Who Ate and Who Left Crumbs: Met Gala Edition
FASHION IS ART
Check out my favorite looks from the 2026 Met Gala!
Jeremy Pope for Vivienne Westwood
When I see this look, I see a stunning pixelated illusion with a silhouette like no other. Jeremy Pope is wearing archival Fall/Winter 1996 Vivienne Westwood, formally known as a “Slave to Love,” styled by Law Roach. The design mimics the body’s muscles and skin, sculpted perfectly to his frame and paired with tailored black trousers for a subtle flare. The jacket is adorned with dyed pearls in varying sizes and red rubies along the back bodice, bringing the entire look together. A truly unforgettable fashion moment.
Cai Xukun for Thom Browne
Cai is wearing a custom color-block suit by Thom Browne, and one thing about Thom, he’s going to deliver a killer suit every time. From the signature boxy tailoring to the cropped trousers that hit at the mid-ankle, every detail feels intentional. Inspired by Cai’s music, Deadman, the look leans fully into a dark and deadly aesthetic. The red sequins cascading down his right side symbolize blood running down his body, adding a dramatic edge. From the single red contact lens to the motorcycle gloves and flowing train, every detail pushes the concept further. It’s bold, theatrical, and feels like he stepped straight out of an anime as the ultimate villain.
Karan Johar for Manish Malhotra
This look feels incredibly regal and serves as a beautiful homage to the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma. Karan Johar’s garment was hand-painted by several artists and reportedly took a staggering 5,600 hours to create, which speaks volumes about the artistry behind it. The look tells a story of heritage and draws from the elegance often seen in Raja Ravi Varma’s work, with rich fabrics, dramatic draping, and a strong sense of movement. Johar’s look commands attention and feels truly fit for a king. You can tell every detail was deeply intentional.
Wisdom Kaye for Public School
This was such a fresh twist on a traditional suit, and the execution was everything. The silhouette was absolutely insane. Wisdom Kaye completely devoured this look, no question. I love how he paired this snatched silhouette with a metal belt and matching metal gloves, which added the perfect edge. His entire look was sourced from vintage materials directly from eBay. We love a sustainable fashion moment. I can’t wait to see what he and his stylist come up with next year.
Sombr for Alessandro Michele Custom Valentino
I love this look. It’s the perfect blend of feminine and masculine energy, from the delicate lace to the silver metallic details throughout. I love a man who isn’t afraid to take risks and lean into something more daring. This custom Valentino garment took 500 hours to create, and they absolutely nailed it. It gives modern-day Prince vibes, but make it runway-ready.
Honorable Mention Anh Hyo-Seop for Valentino
Everything about this look screams richness. Anh is wearing custom Valentino from head to toe, and it feels incredibly elevated. From the frog closures to the silk undershirt paired with a black metallic striped suit jacket, every detail works. The red scarf was my favorite touch and adds the perfect pop to the look. It’s simple, clean, and effortlessly refined.
Emma Chamberlain for Mugler
Muva showed up in Mugler and did not come to play. This was easily one of my favorite looks of the night. The gown feels like it was made specifically for Emma Chamberlain. The way the colors move across her body feels like a living piece of art. Styled by Jared Ellner, every detail feels intentional. The gown was custom painted by artist Anna Deller-Yee and inspired by Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch, and archival 1997 Mugler collections. This look evokes so many emotions.
Beyoncé for Olivier Rousteing
Act III… are y’all ready? The Beyhive knows Beyoncé loves symbolism, and if this isn’t a sign, I don’t know what is. Who knew skeletal detailing paired with a dramatic feather cape could look this beautiful? Beyoncé showed us exactly that. Her dress and cape felt incredibly theatrical and dramatic, while stylist Ty Hunter delivered yet another standout moment. I love how the diamond skeletal design draped across her body. Beyoncé is truly bad to the bone on and off the stage.
Janelle Monáe for Christian Siriano
This look is beyond creative, but it’s also very on brand for Janelle Monáe. I love how she uses fashion to highlight bigger conversations, especially around technology and how it shapes our everyday lives. There’s a clear commentary here on the impact of AI on the environment, which makes the look feel both beautiful and thought-provoking. It balances elegance with chaos in a way that feels intentional and striking. Janelle is someone you can consistently count on to deliver a powerful Met Gala moment. Shereally is the Met’s honey.
Laura Harrier for Di Petsa
Laura Harrier does it for me every year. This look is simple, but so effortlessly chic. The color suits her skin beautifully, and the draping is everything. The “wet” effect was made for her. It elevates the whole gown. It’s elegant in the most understated way, yet still manages to steal the show. She looks like a modern-day Greek goddess. Covered in Swarovski crystals, the dress hugs her body like a second skin and gives pure luxury from every angle.
Lauren Wasser for Prabal Gurung
I live for this androgynous look. Lauren Wasser is wearing a custom gold lamé suit, and it’s such a powerful statement. She turns her body into art while also bringing awareness to toxic shock syndrome in a way that feels intentional and impactful. From the head scarf down to the metallic fabric, every detail feels considered. The entire look reads as bold, meaningful, and completely unforgettable.
Honorable Mention Odessa A’zion
Custom Valentino
Odessa A’zion is absolutely wearing this look, and she owns it. The styling choice to pair the corset with an embroidered floral bra feels unexpected in the best way. She gives full rockstar energy, very Vanity 6 coded, and it works effortlessly. The look is bold, daring, and unapologetic. The cape is the perfect finishing touch, pushing everything just a little further over the edge. It feels made for her from start to finish.
